In Love

In love, the mirror of the heart reflects it's Beloved.
In love, the rain feeds the earth.
In love, I am You.~MN~

Emblazoned thoughts,
glowing embers fly freely.
Life draws charcoal memories
in my mind buried deeply...

Alone - Maya Angelou

Lying, thinking
Last night
How to find my soul a home
Where water is not thirsty
And bread loaf is not stone
I came up with one thing
And I don't believe I'm wrong
That nobody,
But nobody
Can make it out here alone.

Alone, all alone
Nobody, but nobody
Can make it out here alone.

There are some millionaires
With money they can't use
Their wives run round like banshees
Their children sing the blues
They've got expensive doctors
To cure their hearts of stone.
But nobody
No, nobody
Can make it out here alone.

Alone, all alone
Nobody, but nobody
Can make it out here alone.

Now if you listen closely
I'll tell you what I know
Storm clouds are gathering
The wind is gonna blow
The race of man is suffering
And I can hear the moan,
'Cause nobody,
But nobody
Can make it out here alone.

Alone, all alone
Nobody, but nobody
Can make it out here alone.
come my sweetheart
let's adore one another
before there is no more
of you and me

a mirror tells the truth
look at your grim face
brighten up and cast away
your bitter smile

a generous friend
gives life for a friend
let's rise above this
animalistic behavior
and be kind to one another

spite darkens friendships
why not cast away
malice from our heart

once you think of me
dead and gone
you will make up with me
you will miss me
you may even adore me

why be a worshiper of the dead
think of me as a goner
come and make up now

since you will come
and throw kisses
at my tombstone later
why not give them to me now
this is me
that same person

i may talk too much
but my heart is silence
what else can i do
i am condemned to live this life
"Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier. Be the living expression of God's kindness: kindness in your face, kindness in your eyes, kindness in your smile.” ~ Mother Teresa

While sometimes PostSecret is too heavy on the heart for me, sometimes I need a dose to see what kind of shenanigans the world is up to. Some below made me smile, cringe or pull my heartstrings from this week's postings:

Those Who Don't Feel This Love

Those who don’t feel this Love
pulling them like a river,
those who don’t drink dawn
like a cup of spring water
or take in sunset like supper,
those who don’t want to change,
let them sleep.

This Love is beyond the study of theology,
that old trickery and hypocrisy.
I you want to improve your mind that way,
sleep on.

I’ve given up on my brain.
I’ve torn the cloth to shreds
and thrown it away.

If you’re not completely naked,
wrap your beautiful robe of words
around you,
and sleep.

When I Asked God

When I Asked God for Strength
He Gave Me Difficult Situations to Face

When I Asked God for Brain & Brawn
He Gave Me Puzzles in Life to Solve

When I Asked God for Happiness
He Showed Me Some Unhappy People

When I Asked God for Wealth
He Showed Me How to Work Hard

When I Asked God for Favors
He Showed Me Opportunities to Work Hard

When I Asked God for Peace
He Showed Me How to Help Others

God Gave Me Nothing I Wanted
He Gave Me Everything I Needed

Lauryn Hill - Ex-Factor

One of the best songs beautiful, heavy and sad at the same time.

"Care for me, care for me
You said you care for me

There for me, there for me
Said you'd be there for me

Cry for me, cry for me
You said you'd die for me

Give to me, give to me
Why won't you live for me?

Where were you when I needed you?"

Abuse--a heavy topic

These are some ads/images on some different types of abuse, I didn't list all the types, but quite a few.  Some of these are so common in our lives, some are extra heavy on the heart and some are things we try to avoid thinking about.  A few of them have been previously posted on my blog over the years on similar topics. It's interesting to figure out which type(s) of abuse is referenced in each image...can you distinguish them?

but to be fearless when facing them.”

#Jan25 Egypt - Omar Offendum, The Narcicyst, Freeway, Ayah, Amir Sulaima...

Great song on the current situation...these are people who give a damn and are standing up for what's right, risking their lives for justice and freedom...while the rest of us are busy complaining about the pampered lives we have.

What a nostalgic day...It has been 5 years since Ahmed Hussain has passed.  He was my first shaykh, my divine friend and mentor.  He taught me so much about life, spirituality, humanity, religion, etc, I could go on forever.  I pray that his beloved mother and brother are granted sabr until they are all reunited, though Ahmed lives in everyone's hearts.

Below is a description of Ahmed from one of his old profiles from somewhere, it's been so long I can't remember, it sums up why he was such a well-known person in the community, let alone those who knew him from other parts of the world.

"I'm someone who cares about the inward more than the outward but realizes that what is percieved is a reflection of that which is imperceptible. I'm relatively crazy and love crazy people. That having been said there is nothing or very very little in this world that is mundane. I always seek people who transcend their own limitations and attain to greatness yet know that sometimes dwelling in the situation that fate/destiny/karma has put one in is itself a means of transcendence. Transcendence = Trance + Dance

Who I'd like to meet: People who are intelligent and perceptive. People with hearts of gold and intellects of mercury. Im tired of people who have mediocre spirits. Everyone has an amazing potential and its time we realize what our destinies are.-Ahmed Hussain"

May you rest in peace and attain Jannatul Firdous, Ameen.

Words I Never Said - Lupe Fiasco

One of Lupe's new songs, this one definitely hits home. Pardon the curse words, the lyrics and message are just so good I had to post it. Maybe it will put things into perspective for a person or two...or 50.

“Women love always: when earth slips from them, they take refuge in heaven.”       -George Sand

Lauryn Hill - Rebel

Perfect song for the situation in Egypt

Lauryn Hill- Love (Rare)

Hits the spot.

Pomegranate Kisses (part 2)

Pomegranate kisses
are just a memory
of the lives we lived together
under the Pomegranate tree.

We no longer dance together,
only the stars give me company.
I sit with my heart open
under the Pomegranate tree.

A secret garden it once was
now a place of tragedy,
I was left here stranded
under the Pomegranate gree.

Pomegranate kisses
are just a memory
of the lives we lived together
under the Pomegranate tree.
“Love is shown in your deeds, not in your words.”
"We say we love flowers, yet we pluck them. We say we love trees, yet we cut them down. And people still wonder why some are afraid when told they are loved.”-unknown
Tears rolling down my cheeks,
I dare not move.
The salty drops of pain
flow to my mouth,
seeping into the crevices of my lips.
The water of nostalgia
clings to what professed my love.

Cut my heart open with love
and let it bleed.
It's not what I want,
but what I need.

Mawlid clip

It's a clip with various speakers and Shaykh Hamza finishes it off with beautiful input. Please check it out.

"The ocean of Muhammad is an ocean of unlimited Mahaba. It's okay if you get lost in this ocean--the important thing is that you don't come out again." One of my most favorite clips ever. Allahuma Salli Alai.♥

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:

“Help your brother, whether he is an oppressor or he is oppressed.” The Prophet was asked: “It is right to help him if he is oppressed, but how should we help him if he is an oppressor?” He replied: “By preventing him from oppressing others.”

Interfaith movement in Egypt

This pic below warms my heart, it was taken during the protests in Egypt--the Christians are surrounding the Muslims to protect them during their prayer.  During Christmas in Egypt, the Muslims had served as human shields to protect the Coptic Christians from any attacks.  Love it.

Praying for Ayah

Please pray for my friend's daughter.  Her name is Ayah and she is 7 years old. She has been diagnosed with Lymphoma and is now unfortunately experiencing kidney failure. She cannot do chemo with failing kidneys, so dialysis could be the next option--which requires another surgery. The next few hours will be intense as they do all they can to give Ayah a fighting chance. Please, please pray for her. The power of prayer is profound. ♥
