Divided We Stand...

As an ummah, we're pretty picky...as people who descend from the greatest empire, look at what has come of us.  We have become WAY TOO COMFORTABLE with the understanding that there will be divisions amongst us and we have decided to just ride that wave...We speak upon it now with just an acceptance as it is totally okay and we should go with the flow.  Our Creator clearly states in the Qur'an that this is disliked and those who create divisions will displease him.  Does this sink in for some people? No.

And hold fast, all together, by the Rope which Allah( stretches out for you), and be not divided among your selves; and remember with gratitude Allah’s favor on you; for you were enemies and He joined your hearts in love, so that by His grace, you became brethren; and you were on the brink of the pit of fire, and He saved you from it. Thus Allah makes His signs clear to you: that you may be guided” (3:103).

The Holy Quran in Sura Al- Hugarat (The Inner Apartments) says; “The believers are but a single brotherhood: so make piece and reconciliation between your two (contending) brothers; and fear Allah, that you may receive mercy” (49:10)

It is expressed as clear as day and as simple as it can get.  Yet, why do we keep turning the other cheek when it comes to something like this?  Lack of love for Allah is the answer.  If we love our Creator, we take heed as to what He says.  We can talk the talk, but how many of us actually walk the walk?  We sit amongst each other and dissect each other's differences.  We try to pick at each other and accumulate as many negative things that a person does and we use that as our basis in judging each other and determining why we dislike them.  People claim to love their sister or brother for the sake of Allah, but those lies just roll off of tongues.  We are taught to LOVE each other for the sake of the Beloved, not LIKE each other.  We are not taught to like for our brother/sister, that which we like for ourselves, but LOVE for our brother/sister that which we love for ourself.  If we loved each other, we wouldn't be in the state we are in currently.  We wouldn't have the arguments we have these days.  We would learn to unite together through our similarities rather than split based on our differences.  Think about that and let it sink in for a sec.......

There is only one Creator...this is our joining unity.  The Abrahamic religions all share the same idea of having one Lord...Allah created other religions as well and sent their messengers, which is known in our teachings.  We are taught to live in peace with each other and co-exist just as the beloved Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did.  We can't even live together with each other as ''Muslims"...look at how far behind we are!!!

We have been manipulated by leaders or certain ''scholars'' to believe that we are great and better than others, or because we place our hands a certain way or follow a school of thought or refrain from doing certain things, that we are the ''enlightened'' ones or the ''true followers''  and that the other muslims are misguided or ignorant or cursed.  Only Allah can judge, who the heck are we?

We are so busy trying to point out each other's faults and pointing fingers at each other, that we have totally forgotten how to look in the mirror and look at our self...Where have we come to and where are we going?  We have to break our own hypocrisies and fix ourselves, yet some of us go about trying to fix everyone else but ''I''...People talk the talk so eloquently...they preach...they make others feel inferior for their mistakes...they quote verses right and left, narrate hadiths off the tip of their tongues...yet their own core is so weak and so hypocritical but they can't face it.  We all are sinners, we all make mistakes, but the point is to fix that...to stay on the sirat-al-mustaqim (straight path)....

Let's tie our own camel before we start going around trying to tie everyone else's...

May HE guide us all, may our hearts be purified, our nafs' broken and our souls' enlightened. Ameen.
